MISSION STATEMENT:
To provide our students with the highest level of education in Integrative Medical Massage Therapy.
PURPOSE:
To create an unconditional, non-judgmental, supportive, safe and respectful sacred space for each individual to explore their inner self, to reach and step out of their comfort zone towards an enlightened place within – an opportunity for each person to grow as high, as far and as fast as they wish.
PHILOSOPHY:
The Hawaiian Islands School of Massage (HISM) philosophy is based on integration, unity and balance. We are dedicated to providing an environment conducive to the realization of personal, spiritual and intellectual goals, and to encourage the discovery and development of one's own unique massage approach and gifts.

We are committed to providing our students with superior skills through a program based on intensive study of Intuitive Medical Treatment Massage and comprehensive training in anatomy, kinesiology and physiology.

HISM recognizes its role as empowering students with an honorable career in assisting people in their own healing as they go forth in sharing their skills. We are committed to educational excellence for the benefit of each student as well as those whose lives will be touched. We envision Integrative Medical Massage Therapy as an integral and respected component of the health care profession worldwide.
HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL:
Founded in Kona on the Big Island of Hawai’i, in 1984, the Hawaiian Islands School of Massage began as a 100 hour pre-apprenticeship training program. Lynn and Peter Wind acquired the school in 1988 and brought to Hawaii their vision of a comprehensive, holistic and scientifically oriented massage training program that contained the essence of 15 years of their Canadian medical massage teaching and studies. In 1989, the Winds aided the State of Hawaii's Board of Massage’s recognition of the need of higher standards and stricter guidelines of massage education requirements and massage industry regulations.

Over the years, the curriculum has evolved into a truly unique integration of personal growth and advanced therapeutic skills. The Hawaiian Islands School of Massage has gained a reputation as one of the country's most outstanding and progressive schools, in education and medical masssage training.
